How Counselling Can Help You

Life can be challenging. We all face difficult moments when stress, emotional pain, or confusion can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re seeking support with relationship issues, struggling with anxiety or depression, or, due to difficult life experiences you are feeling stuck, counselling can provide the support, guidance, and tools you need to navigate through life’s challenges and move toward greater well-being.

Life's difficulties can create deep - rooted fears, perhaps some we are unaware of, or that we have tried to forget. These fears often result in us not being able to trust others, resulting in difficult relationships and not knowing where to turn for help. At Creative Calm Therapy we understand this from our own lived experiences and therefore we aim to provide, through our tailored approach and dedication, a place where together we can help you build a more meaningful life, thus giving hope to your future.

Counselling provides a professional and confidential space where you can talk openly about your feelings, thoughts, and concerns with a trained therapist. It’s an opportunity to gain deeper insight into yourself, work through past or current struggles, and develop healthier coping strategies. Counselling is not about offering quick fixes or advice, but rather about empowering you to make positive changes by helping you better understand your emotions, behaviours, and patterns.

If you have any questions or are ready to schedule an appointment, feel free to contact us. We’re here to help you every step of the way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long will I need to have counselling?

How long a period of counselling lasts will vary from person to person and depend on the depth of the issues they are facing. For some people a couple of sessions helps to bring their problems into focus, and they feel ready to move forward; other problems may require more of an open-ended approach.

Before we begin any work we will agree on the number of sessions we’ll undertake, and at the end of that number review our progress. As long as we both agree further therapy will be of benefit to you, sessions can continue.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

We aim to offer a first appointment - known as an initial assessment - within 1-2 weeks. Then we would arrange a set number of counselling sessions to take place at the same time every week, that is convenient for you and where we have availability.

Will everything I say be kept confidential?

Everything that is said within the counselling room is private - this is one of the main ways counselling and therapy differ from talking to a friend or relative. Once you are comfortable with the format of weekly sessions and the safe space they provide, you will find the freedom to speak in confidence.

Note that there are some situations where you may be a risk to yourself or others, and there the law requires that I notify an authority; in these cases I may not be able to keep total confidentiality.

Can I bring a friend or relative with me?

We are usually asked this question by people who are nervous about entering into counselling, or when they are looking for support in coming to see a therapist. This feeling is understandable, but a key aspect of therapy is that you should feel free to talk about any issues you feel are important to you. Having someone else with you who can be connected those issues makes this opening-up more difficult, so for this reason we do not see clients accompanied by friends or family.
